I was charged for a year-long subscription even though I canceled during the trial period.

2

Inaccurate AI Scanning

The app misidentified my food and gave incorrect calorie counts.

3

Limited Free Features

A significant number of users are disappointed to find that the app requires payment for essential features, affecting about 25% of users. This is misleading as the app is initially presented as free.

I thought the app was free, but I can't use the main features without paying.

Major Highlights of the Week

Subscription Confusion
Users are frustrated with unexpected charges after the trial period, as the app does not clearly communicate the subscription model upfront. This leads to dissatisfaction and a perception of deceptive practices.
I was charged for a year-long subscription even though it said there was a free trial and I cancelled and deleted my account.
Inaccurate AI Results
The AI's food recognition and calorie estimation are often inaccurate, leading to user frustration and mistrust in the app's core functionality. This undermines the app's value proposition of providing quick and reliable nutritional information.
The app told me a cheeseburger was only 330 calories, which is highly unlikely.
Manual Input Hassles
Users find the manual input process cumbersome, especially when the app fails to recognize foods correctly, requiring them to make frequent adjustments. This detracts from the app's promise of convenience and ease of use.
Lack of Customization
The app lacks flexibility in customizing serving sizes and nutritional goals, which frustrates users who need precise tracking for their dietary needs. This limitation makes the app less appealing compared to competitors offering more customization.
I can't set a specific weight for my food that I scan; it's only in 1x, 1.5x, 2x amounts.
Poor Customer Support
Users experience inadequate customer support, with issues like unresolved technical problems and unhelpful responses, leading to dissatisfaction and negative perceptions of the brand.
I reached out to their support but they were extremely unhelpful and kept telling me to reset the app.
Data Privacy Concerns
The app's requirement for extensive personal data during setup raises privacy concerns among users, who feel uncomfortable sharing sensitive information without clear justification.
I just want to track calories, not give all my information to some shady startup.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

The app is very good except for some key aspects they need to fix ASAP. When creating and adding foods, the serving size should be modular like with MyFitnessPal. Also, you should not be able to add a food to the app/database without a unit of mass or volume to back the 'serving' amount. Very frustrating to try and look up a food on the database and have the nutrition information be for a 'serving'.

I like the easy function of the app but giving 2 stars because it’s not accurate. When trying to create my own foods, it will not let me add a decimal point. Have to either round up or down. Example: Protein of item is 36.7 grams, and it will only let me enter either 36 or 37. Please fix this.

The app certainly helps with keeping focus on your calories. The ability to take a picture and then adjust it makes it take less manual entry than other apps. However, too much manual manipulation is still needed. The 'Create a meal' function does not work well, and using the picture function is not perfect, making adjustments need to be easier.
