TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of TP-Link Tether's key feedback

1

Connection Issues

Some users experience frequent disconnections and inability to connect to their routers, affecting approximately 5% of users. This issue often arises after updates, causing frustration and hindering app functionality.

The app constantly forgets my extender and randomly disconnects from the WiFi.

2

Account Requirement

The app requires users to create an account for local setup, which is seen as unnecessary and intrusive by about 3% of users. This requirement raises privacy concerns and complicates the setup process.

I shouldn't need an online account just to change the settings on my router.

3

Parental Control Limitations

Parental controls are limited and require a subscription, which disappoints around 2% of users. Users expect more comprehensive controls without additional costs.

Surprised that TPLink's premium devices don't come with built-in advanced parental controls, requiring a separate subscription.

4

Dark Mode Absence

The lack of a dark mode is a common complaint, affecting approximately 4% of users who find the current interface straining on the eyes, especially in low-light conditions.

Even after years of feedback there is no dark theme, such a lousy theme of developers.

The Homeshield parental controls turn themselves off and/or disassociate from the device you're trying to control. I've emailed their tech support 6 or 7 times and they have offered nothing helpful.
