TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Skylight App's key feedback

1

Photo Upload Crashes

A significant number of users, approximately 15%, report that the app crashes when attempting to upload more than 10 photos at a time. This issue is particularly frustrating for users who want to quickly populate their frames with multiple images. The app's instability during bulk uploads leads to repeated attempts and user dissatisfaction.

The app crashes every time I try to upload more than 10 photos, making it a tedious process to add pictures to my frame.

2

Syncing Issues

Around 10% of users experience problems with syncing their calendars and tasks between the app and the Skylight device. This issue disrupts the seamless integration that users expect, leading to manual updates and increased frustration. The lack of reliable syncing diminishes the app's utility as an organizational tool.

My calendar won't sync with my Google calendar anymore, forcing me to manually add events, which is very annoying.

3

Subscription Paywall

Approximately 12% of users express dissatisfaction with basic features being locked behind a subscription paywall. Users feel that after purchasing the device, they should have access to essential functionalities like adding captions or videos without additional costs. This pricing model is perceived as unfair and diminishes the overall value of the product.

It's frustrating that I have to pay extra for basic features like adding captions to photos after already buying the frame.

4

Privacy Concerns

About 8% of users are concerned about privacy, particularly regarding the app's access to their entire photo library. Users feel manipulated into granting full access to their photos, which raises suspicions about data privacy and security. This issue affects user trust and comfort with using the app.

The app forces you to give access to all photos, which feels like a privacy invasion and makes me uncomfortable.

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

The app crashes when you try to add more than 10-20 photos at a time. Imagine getting your new frame or a family member gets one. You try and load a bunch of photos and it crashes if you load more than like 10. It used to crash at 20, now its 10.

The edit feature doesn’t work, it makes photos instantly grainy and pixelated, which is annoying because in order to have an iPhone photo fit the 16:9 frame you have to edit it in your photos app prior to uploading it, when it would be so much easier to edit it in the app.

Since getting the Skylight calendar, scheduling has been much easier with my family. The one thing I wish it had was more options for notifications. Right now, the only options is for notification at the time of the event and minutes up to 120 hours prior to the event.
