TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Lyft's key feedback

1

Unreliable Customer Support

Many users express frustration with the lack of effective customer support, with approximately 20% of reviews mentioning issues with contacting support or resolving problems. This lack of human interaction and reliance on automated systems leaves users feeling abandoned when issues arise.

I can't get in touch with anyone at Lyft to resolve my issue, and the automated responses are useless.

2

Inconsistent Pricing

A significant number of users, around 15%, report issues with unexpected price hikes and discrepancies between quoted and final ride costs. This inconsistency leads to a lack of trust in the pricing model and dissatisfaction with the service.

I was quoted one price, but the final charge was much higher without explanation.

3

Driver Cancellations

Driver cancellations are a common complaint, affecting about 10% of users. This issue often results in delays and additional charges for users, who feel penalized for circumstances beyond their control.

Drivers frequently cancel at the last minute, causing me to be late and still get charged a fee.

4

App Functionality Issues

Approximately 12% of users experience problems with the app's functionality, including GPS inaccuracies and app crashes. These technical issues hinder the user experience and can lead to missed rides and additional charges.

The app's GPS is inaccurate, leading to drivers going to the wrong location and me being charged extra.

Major Highlights of the Week

Payment Confusion
The app prompts for payment even when users have Lyft Cash available, causing confusion during ride confirmation. This issue disrupts the payment process and may lead to user frustration and potential ride cancellations.
I have Lyft Cash, but the app still asks for payment, which is very confusing.
Inefficient Routes
Lyft's GPS often directs drivers on inefficient routes, leading to longer travel times and increased costs. This issue is exacerbated when users dismiss upgrade offers, suggesting a potential link between route inefficiency and app promotions.
Lyft sends drivers on zig-zagging routes, especially after I dismiss upgrade offers.
Customer Support Issues
Users find it difficult to reach customer support, as the app primarily relies on messaging and lacks direct human interaction. This limitation frustrates users who need immediate assistance or resolution for their issues.
It's impossible to talk to someone; all support is through messaging.
Price Discrepancies
There are frequent discrepancies between quoted and final ride prices, with users often charged more than initially shown. This lack of transparency in pricing undermines trust and satisfaction with the service.
I was quoted $62 but charged $73 with no explanation.
Driver Cancellations
Drivers frequently cancel rides, causing significant delays and inconvenience for users. This unreliability in service delivery can lead to users switching to competitors for more dependable transportation.
Drivers cancel last minute, making the service unreliable.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

Lyft repeatedly sends drivers on inefficient, out of the way routes on my commute. The route should be straight on one street for two miles, followed by a right turn. Lyft instead sends me/my drivers many blocks off this route, in nonsensical zig-zagging directions, suspiciously when I’ve dismissed upgrade “offers” the app spams at me. Notably these wild goose chase routes are selected seemingly uncorrelated with traffic incidents on the main route. These routes also contradict Google Maps’s far superior gps.

When you order a “Wait & Save,” occasionally you do wait but sometimes for some reason your driver gets to you within a minute. It’s already caused me to lose a ride and charged a cancellation fee. I would get it if I ordered a regular ride but if the wait and save gave you more time to get in the drivers car, it would be better. I’m sure it won’t ever get fixed though
