TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Park Smarter's key feedback

1

Account Creation Issues

Many users face difficulties creating accounts, with the app often failing to send verification codes or not recognizing valid phone numbers. Approximately 20% of users report being unable to create an account, which is a critical barrier to using the app. This issue is exacerbated by the app's failure to provide clear error messages or solutions.

I can't create an account; the app won't send a verification code.

2

Payment Processing Failures

A significant number of users experience issues with payment processing, where the app either fails to process payments or does not reflect the payment on the meter. This affects around 25% of users, leading to parking tickets and frustration. The app's inability to reliably process payments undermines its core functionality.

Paid through the app, but the meter still showed expired, resulting in a ticket.

3

App Performance and Reliability

Users frequently report that the app is slow, crashes, or fails to load necessary information like parking zones. This affects approximately 30% of users, making the app unreliable for its intended purpose. The app's performance issues lead to wasted time and missed parking opportunities.

The app crashes constantly and won't load parking zones, making it unusable.

4

Lack of Notifications

The app fails to send timely notifications about expiring parking sessions, which is a critical feature for avoiding tickets. About 15% of users mention this issue, which diminishes the app's utility and increases the risk of fines. Users expect reliable alerts to manage their parking time effectively.

The app didn't notify me when my parking was about to expire, leading to a ticket.

Major Highlights of the Week

Location Limitations
The app fails to function in certain districts, leading to user frustration and financial loss without refunds. This limitation undermines the app's promise of universal usability across locations.
The app doesn't work in certain districts of Los Angeles, and they won't refund you.
Account Creation Issues
Users face repeated errors during account creation, forcing them to resort to alternative payment methods. This critical flaw disrupts the onboarding process and deters new users.
I tried creating an account three times and it said there’s an error, so I had to pay with a credit card at the meter.
Meter Sync Failure
The app does not sync with parking meters, causing confusion and potential wrongful parking tickets. This disconnect between the app and physical meters significantly reduces reliability.
The meter itself does not indicate that payment has been made through the app, leading to confusion and potential tickets.
Notification Absence
The app lacks essential notifications for expiring parking sessions, risking unnecessary fines for users. This oversight in user alerts compromises the app's core functionality.
Why would you make a parking app that doesn’t send notifications regarding time remaining?
Payment Processing Errors
Frequent payment processing errors prevent users from completing transactions, leading to parking violations. This issue severely impacts the app's primary function of facilitating parking payments.
I couldn't pay for parking using this app; error every time.

Quotes of the week

Hear from some of the most impactful users to drive changes

The Park Smarter app is convenient for paying for parking remotely, but it has a major flaw—the meter itself does not indicate that payment has been made through the app. This creates unnecessary confusion and can lead to wrongful parking tickets, as enforcement officers may assume the space is unpaid. A simple fix, such as syncing with meters to display active sessions, would greatly improve the experience.

If the meters in your city are actually supported on the app, this will work 100%, and it works flawlessly. But I am knocking a star off because you can pay for a spot and it will not register that a transaction was made. Although that was likely on me for not checking to ensure the meter was actually going to accept online charges.

The app is really good. But I’m getting notifications even when I’m not paying for parking. I would be getting 10 minutes warnings every 2 minutes.
