TOP INSIGHTS

A weekly roundup of Instawork's key feedback

1

Poor Customer Support

Many users express frustration with the lack of effective customer support, often citing unresponsive AI and the inability to reach a human representative. Approximately 30% of users report issues with support, leading to unresolved problems and dissatisfaction.

I tried contacting support multiple times, but only got automated responses and no real help.

2

Job Availability Issues

A significant number of users are frustrated by the lack of local job opportunities, with many shifts being located far from their area. This affects around 25% of users, who find it difficult to secure work without extensive travel.

Most shifts are over 100 miles away, making it impossible to find local work.

3

Account Deactivation Concerns

Users report sudden and unexplained account deactivations, often following minor issues or misunderstandings. This affects about 15% of users, who feel unfairly treated and unable to resolve the situation.

My account was deactivated without explanation after a single missed shift due to an emergency.

4

Payment and Verification Problems

There are numerous complaints about payment delays and issues with verifying employment or identity, affecting approximately 20% of users. These problems lead to financial stress and hinder the ability to work.

I completed shifts but haven't been paid, and support hasn't resolved the issue.

Major Highlights of the Week

Deactivation Issues
Users face unexpected deactivations without clear reasons or recourse, often due to alleged policy violations or negative reviews from employers. This lack of transparency and communication leads to frustration and distrust in the platform's fairness.
I was deactivated after a business gave me a bad review, despite having a good rating and no policy violations.
Support Challenges
The app's reliance on AI for customer support results in unresolved issues and user dissatisfaction, as many find it difficult to reach a human representative for assistance. This lack of effective support undermines user confidence in resolving critical problems.
I needed help with my profile and payment being hacked, but only got responses from a bot.
Job Availability
Many users report a lack of local job opportunities, with available shifts often being far from their location, making it impractical to accept work. This geographic mismatch limits the app's utility for users seeking nearby employment.
All the jobs I see are hundreds of miles away, making it impossible to work.
Verification Hurdles
The app's stringent verification process, including employment history checks, poses a barrier for users, especially when past employers are unreachable. This requirement can prevent users from accessing job opportunities despite having relevant experience.
I can't verify past jobs because I can't reach old employers, blocking me from applying.
Payment Delays
Users experience significant delays in receiving payments for completed shifts, with some reporting missing payments altogether. This inconsistency in payment processing erodes trust and satisfaction with the platform.
App Functionality
Technical issues such as app crashes, slow loading times, and glitches during critical processes like clocking in/out hinder user experience. These persistent problems disrupt workflow and contribute to user frustration.
The app crashed multiple times, preventing me from clocking in and getting paid.

I've been using this app for a while and no jobs are near me: I’m in the northwest Indiana/Chicago area. I’ve been getting stuff that’s 100+ miles away.

I had this app for years and I give it 0 stars. I was recently deactivated for no reason. I was getting a generated response on the reason for deactivation. When I finally talk to someone way in the Philippines. They said I had a bad review from a business. The business started cancelling my shifts which makes them look bad so they end up giving me a bad review purposely. I had a good rating on my profile and was just approaching platinum status. On their site there are reasons for deactivation and I did not match none of them.

The functionality of the APP itself is great however the actually use of the platform leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to support. The coaches who help you setup your profile (which is what allows you accept certain jobs and SEE certain jobs) however if you are not approved for certain industries the app can be frustrating to use. For example I have serving experience and somehow was not approved to work with their partners who offered servings shifts. So a whole lot of missed opportunities because of a bias coach. User Support are robots no actual reps and if an actual rep is to contact to you it’s very scripted. You just wait 6 months for your next coach call and hopefully they like you. I was approved for 5 out of about 15 industries. I’m 32. With 10 years of CSR / Managerial experience.
